Changing Sports Culture at NSAC 2025

The Assist traveled to Anaheim (August 26–28), where Julie Ann Rivers-Cochran and Emily Austin presented “Changing Sports Culture: Lessons in Systems Change from Local Programs to International Sports Organizations.” This workshop explored how to create lasting cultural change to make sports safer by:

  • Centering athlete-survivor voices in systems change
  • Implementing trauma-informed best practices for prevention and athlete support
  • Sharing local, national, and global athlete safeguarding efforts

Global Advocacy at SRA Annual Summit

The Assist joined leaders in Switzerland for the Sport & Rights Alliance Annual Summit from September 8–11, 2025. They amplified athlete-survivor voices, advanced trauma-informed reforms, and pushed for safeguarding in global sports governance.

Driving dialogue for democracy in sport at Play the Game 2025

Julie Ann Rivers‑Cochran, Emily Austin presented at Play the Game 2025, the 14th iteration bringing together global sport leaders, survivors, and researchers in Tampere, Finland (5–8 October). We advocated for trauma-informed safety, survivor inclusion, and systemic change.
